Beware of Imposters

Beware of Imposters

Dear Minimalists,

Recently, we’ve more frequently received reports of others impersonating our team members and attempting to scam community members. While so far, we’ve been able to spot and ban them quickly, but we’d like to provide you with all the information you need to avoid ever falling victim to them.

Unfortunately, due to its digital nature, crypto has been quite popular among imposters trying to get their victims to send them funds. And scammers continue advancing their techniques, which requires us to continue exercising vigilance and follow the mantra of “Don’t trust, verify.”

Imposters will take on the identity of one of our team and reach out to community members claiming that they’ll be able to receive tokens or other benefits for payment in cryptocurrency. Anyone falling for this will lose their funds. Then the scammers will simply disappear, and there is no easy way to track them, let alone get back your funds.

Fortunately, there is an easy way you can protect yourself.

  • Verify that the person talking to you is actually who they say they are. You will find the Discord handles of our team members at the bottom of this post.

Our team will never ask you to transfer funds. Currently, you cannot buy Minima coins. Anyone offering you Minima coins in return for Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies should be viewed as a potential imposter.

If you doubt the legitimacy of anyone reaching out to you, feel free to contact our team and verify. And if you do find imposters, please notify us of them, so we can report them. Thanks in advance.

Here are the Discord Handles of our Community Team.

Note that our team will not DM first. If we want to get in touch with you, we might tag you in one of our public channels, and let you reach out to us first.

Stay safe out there. And when in doubt, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

Your Minima team.
